Showtime

So I haven't posted for a while... with good reason. I have been working for the past few months preparing for my first show at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. I know, I have had over a year to prepare for it, but it wasn't until about three months ago until I knew what I wanted to do.  I mean--I could easily populate the walls with everything from my closed down Etsy shop. But I wanted to get back into doing ART--the reason I went to MICA.  It has been 20 years since I graduated from Art School, and I haven't really done a lick of ART since. I think I did an occasional drawing or painting through the years, but nothing like creating a body of work like I did in my Junior year.

Since graduating in (dare I say) 1995, I have spent most of my time doing animation, design and illustration--all self taught when I got out into the real world.  I did have a pretty awesome stint living in London from 95-00' and being a co-founder of an education company called re-Animate Educational Software.

Upon returning to the states, I jumped right back into a job with K12, Inc., did a sabbatical with AARP jumping from one age spectrum to the other and then returned to K12. All of it has been a journey in my creative career. Now with an adoring supportive wife and two awesome boys, I am coming full circle as I watch my boys get creative themselves.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I watch my boys hone their motor skills using scissors to cut paper shapes. Then they glue and tape it down to create their own masterpieces. Pure love of creation.
Using paper, glue and tape, I have returned to that simpler time--that pure love of creation. I chop and bond my skills of animation, design, illustration, painting and sculpture to create work that pulls from my heritage, past experiences and pop culture.
I piece together moments in time that overlap to evoke thoughts, feelings, and nostalgia. Layering color and textures, I create dimension and volume that extrudes dynamic imagery and excites thought.

Inspired by their creativity, I have found mine again. Now, I am at a point to share it at my first solo show.  So if you are out in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area, come on out to Holly Springs, NC. My work will be on display the whole month of June. And the Artist Reception will be June 12 from 6-8 pm.

Latest Work

Just wanted to share the my latest work. I haven't had any posts in the new year, but I wanted to share that I have still been working.
